Private health cover
Mr Patel is registered with all major insurers. Simply contact your insurer and request to see Mr Patel. They will provide a 'pre-authorisation' code which will be requested at your appointment. A GP referral is only necessary should your insurer require it.

Self-paying patients
If you do not have private health insurance but wish to be seen in clinic, the fees are as follows:
Initial consultation: £250
Follow up consultation: £150
Certain procedures (eg. flexible endoscopy & audiograms) incur a smaller charge and this will be made clear before and set out at the beginning of any consultation. Further tests such as scans, blood tests and biopsies, are charged on an itemised basis.

Out-patient clinics - on the day
You will be given instructions of where and when to arrive for your appointment. We will always endeavour to run to time but occasionally there can be a short wait. After a consultation and examination, some investigations may be carried our on the day, such as felxible laryngoscopy, hearing tests, and microscopy of the ear. There is no need to worry about any of these tests, which are all well tolerated. If you need any scans or other tests they will be booked. Some can be performed on the same day, whereas others will be scheduled, and typically performed within a week.

Surgery - on the day
You will be given a time to present to the hospital. You will be taken to your private area and have details checked several times (apologies for the reptition but it's a safety requirement!) You will be given a hospital gown and stockings to wear in most cases. If the procedure requires a general anaesthetic, you will have a chance to meet your anaesthetist before going through to the theatre area. They will review your medical history, allergies, anaesthetic history, and any concerns you have. Mr Patel will also drop in to say hello, confirm your consent, and give some reassurance! Many procedures are carried out as 'day-cases', meaning you can go home on the same day. However, some procedures require an overnight stay, in which case you will be in safe hands overnight with excellent nursing care and resident medical care.
